What is in the download

Who it is for

  • Homelabbers who want one place to log every purchase, including tax and per-line shipping, and see what the lab really costs.
  • Builders and small offices who need to compare budget against spend by category and by status (Planned, Ordered, Received, Returned).
  • Anyone who wants to turn device wattage into a yearly electricity figure and see a 3-year total cost of ownership.

Who it is not for

  • Not accounting software. It tracks a parts list and costs, and it does not replace your books.
  • No currency conversion and no price lookups, so you enter every price yourself. The example prices are invented.
  • Not for anyone who needs Google Sheets or another format. The file is Excel (.xlsx) only, and the tracker holds 200 purchase lines.

Questions

What file types do I get?

You get two Excel (.xlsx) files: a BLANK tracker for your own data and an EXAMPLE tracker with sample data. A README.md and a SOURCES.md are included too.

Can I edit the formulas?

The workbook has 446 formulas across 3 sheets, and yellow cells are your inputs while blue-grey cells are formulas. The text does not say whether the formula cells are locked, so check the file before you edit them.

Does it replace an accountant, and how do I start?

No. It is a planning tool for tracking cost and is not tax or financial advice. To start, open the EXAMPLE file to see the formulas working, then fill in the BLANK file, and see the Start_here sheet for notes.

Refunds: refunds follow the rules of the marketplace where you buy; if a file is broken we fix or replace it (details). It is a planning tool, not tax, legal, financial or engineering advice. Check rates, limits and rules against the official source before you rely on them. How we check our files.
